MakeMusic, the producers of Finale, ought to be getting seriously worried; although reviews comparing MuseScore 1.3 to Finale must have been based on comparison to Finale Notepad rather than the full version, with the release of MuseScore 2.0 the comparison is almost fully justified, at any rate as far as notation goes. The integration of Garritan sounds in Finale still puts it way ahead of MuseScore on the midi front, but for composers and music copyists for whom the score is the important thing, MuseScore has now become a serious contender. I have yet to put it through its paces with a really complex score, but don't doubt that it will be up to the job. Until now the industry standard, Finale is soon likely to be left far behind by the fact that MuseScore, as well as being free, is also available for Linux. Although as a long-term fan of Finale I don't really like to say this, I think I can hear the last nails being driven into Finale's coffin.

Is Musescore Safe To Download Windows 7
Obviously, MuseScore is the /best/ bang-for-buck music notation software out there, since the only equivalents are Finale and Sibelius; and since MuseScore is free and packed with features. After having used MuseScore for four years, I am glad to say that I use only MuseScore. It's so simple to use, and I can write for just about any instrument that I can think of--and the default SoundFont even comes with a dedicated sound for most of them! (I'm also excited about MusScore 3 and MuseJazz for notes instead of only chord symbols!!!) My issue is that whenever I have the UWP version of MuseScore open, it 'hogs' my computer's audio. For example: whenever I have my web browser open and am looking at videos, I hear nothing unless I close MuseScore, which is a hassle because it hinders my writing--and sometimes, I even have to restart the program in question just to hear audio. This isn't very efficient; and I hope a fix to this comes soon. Otherwise, MuseScore is great and I recommend it!
